FAO's representative office may be opened in Turkmenistan

Turkmenistan plans to open a representative office of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), Trend reports with reference to Business Turkmenistan.

The issue was discussed between Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and Director of the FAO Regional Office Viorel Gutsu during an online meeting expressed their readiness to step up actions to open an FAO office in Turkmenistan.

During the talks on key aspects of cooperation between Turkmenistan and FAO, the Turkmen side highly appreciated the activities of this organization and expressed its intention to develop effective cooperation aimed at using world practices in the field of sustainable agricultural development and improving measures to maintain food security.

The parties also exchanged views on the development and full implementation of joint projects and programs. In this regard, the parties expressed their readiness to cooperate in order to open a representative office of the organization in Turkmenistan.

It is noted that within the framework of the meeting, the Director of the FAO Regional Office was invited to participate in the international conference "Politics of Peace and Trust - the Basis of International Security, Stability and Development", which will be held on December 12 this year in Ashgabat.
