A method for producing lightweight sulfur concrete and polymer concrete from "gas" sulfur and industrial waste of this substance has been developed in Turkmenistan, Trend reports citing the Golden Age online newspaper on Nov. 4.
According to the newspaper, the method will allow solving environmental problems connected with excessive sulfur accumulations.
The use of this binder and modifying component in sulfur-bitumen compositions is considered as the most perspective direction, which not only increases the total amount of binder, but also improves the quality of the mixture.
The developed road building material is a sulfur-mineral composition. It has improved physical and mechanical properties - higher strength, water and frost resistance, resistance to aggressive environments, rapid strength gain, thermo-plasticity and high adhesion when used in road surfaces.
