BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 24. In Turkmenistan, the possibility of obtaining iron oxide at the Chagyl deposit located in the Turkmenbashi district of the Balkan region in the west of the country has been identified, Trend reports with reference to the Turkmen media.

Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Charymyrat Purchekov informed President Serdar Berdimuhamedov about this during a government meeting.

According to him, it is planned to hold an international tender for the selection of a consulting company to confirm the existing iron ore reserves of this deposit, and to develop a feasibility study of the project.

After hearing the report, Berdimuhamedov noted the need for careful study of relevant issues and further development of local raw materials used in the production of import-substituting products.

The subsoil of Turkmenistan contains valuable minerals: oil and natural gas, sulfur, lead, mirabilite, iodine, and bromine. The country also has a variety of raw materials for the finishing industry: limestone, marl, dolomite, granite, gypsum, refractory clays, quartz sand, gravel, and pebbles.
