BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 16. Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Vepa Hajiyev met with the newly appointed Ambassador of Australia to Turkmenistan (with a residence in Moscow, the capital of Russia) Graeme Meehan Leslie, who arrived in the Turkmen capital on a working visit, Trend reports with reference to the press service of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Australian Ambassador handed copies of credentials to the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

In order to identify priority areas for further development of political, economic, cultural, and humanitarian ties between the two countries, the Turkmen side proposed to hold political consultations between the foreign ministries of Turkmenistan and Australia this year.

In the sphere of trade and economic cooperation, it was proposed to promote the establishment of direct contacts between companies and entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan and Australia. To this end, the parties proposed to organize and hold a business forum, which will allow the business community to get acquainted with the potential of the markets and develop proposals for further cooperation between entrepreneurs of the two countries.

Meanwhile, Turkmenistan and Australia have been actively developing economic cooperation recently. For example, both countries hold business forums and discuss topical issues of economic partnership.
