BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 28. Turkmenistan's Ambassador in the Kingdom of Belgium Sapar Palvanov held a meeting with the Governor of the Belgian province of Antwerp Cathy Berx during which they discussed issues of strengthening multilateral cooperation, Trend reports with reference to the Turkmen media.
During the meeting, the Ambassador made a presentation of the new city Arkadag, which is the administrative center of the Ahal region of Turkmenistan. During the presentation, Palvanov stressed that Arkadag is the first "smart" city in Turkmenistan with the status of "eco" and called on the Belgian governor to explore the possibility of joint projects that actively attract investors from Antwerp in the field of information technology, digitalization, and urban planning.
Furthermore, the Ambassador proposed to Cathy Berx to establish twinning relations between the port cities of Turkmenbashi and Antwerp. These cities have much in common: Antwerp has a seaport, which is second in Europe in terms of volume, and both cities have oil refineries.
This proposal was accepted with great interest. At the same time, it was noted that twinning can bring cities closer together not only economically, but also in the field of culture, education, and science.
