IMF predicts decrease in total government gross debt of Turkmenistan

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 13. The total government gross debt of Turkmenistan (as a percentage of GDP) in 2023 is projected at 4.4 percent, Trend reports, citing the latest Regional Economic Outlook from the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

According to the information, the total government gross debt of Turkmenistan (as a percentage of GDP) for 2024 is projected at 3.7 percent.

Furthermore, according to the IMF, the total government gross debt of Turkmenistan (as a percentage of GDP) in 2022 amounted to 5.2 percent, in 2021 - 10.1 percent, and in 2020 it amounted to 13.1 percent.

Meanwhile, the IMF forecasts the growth of Turkmenistan's real GDP in 2023 at 2.3 percent, with a nominal GDP of $82.6 billion.

At the same time, according to forecasts, the growth of Turkmenistan's real GDP in 2024 will be at the level of 2.1 percent, with a nominal GDP of $91.8 billion.
