ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, September 4. Turkmenistan imported plastic and rubber products worth 8.15 million euros from EU countries from January through May 2023, the source at Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union, told Trend.
According to the information, these figures in the reporting period are 51.7 percent more than in the first five months of last year (5.37 million euros).
Turkmenistan imported plastic and rubber products from EU countries in May in the amount of 2.09 million euros, which is 58.3 percent, or 770,000 euros more than in April 2023 (1.32 million euros).
Furthermore, Turkmenistan increased its imports from EU countries by 4 percent in the initial five months of this year in contrast to the period of January through May 2022 (212.49 million euros), reaching a total of 221.5 million euros.
Turkmenistan's imports from EU countries last year amounted to 608.85 million euros, which is 27.5 percent less than in 2021 (840.05 million euros).
Meanwhile, the trade exchange between Turkmenistan and the EU countries from January through May 2023 amounted to over 494.66 million euros, which is 27.3 percent more than the same period last year (406.3 million euros).
