ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, March 7. Turkmenistan and Afghanistan doubled the amount of trade turnover in January 2024 compared to the same month last year, Trend reports.
According to official data, in the specified month, the mutual trade turnover between the two countries reached $46 million, which is more than twice as much year-on-year.
In general, the total amount of trade turnover between Turkmenistan and Afghanistan in the whole of 2023 amounted to $457 million.
Turkmenistan exports mainly products of the fuel and energy complex, chemical industry, building materials, agricultural, textile and light industry to Afghanistan.
In turn, the volume of imports from Afghanistan to Turkmenistan also increased by 14 percent compared to January last year.
Meanwhile, the Turkmen-Afghan Business Forum and an exhibition of products from Afghan manufacturers have recently been held in the capital of Turkmenistan, Ashgabat city.
The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan noted that this exhibition will be of great importance for expanding bilateral trade and economic cooperation between Afghanistan and Turkmenistan, increasing trade turnover and developing business cooperation with Afghan companies.
