Turkmenistan reports doubling of sales on its commodity exchange

ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, April 16. Turkmenistan held auctions last week on its State Commodity and Raw Material Exchange, where it concluded deals for the sale of raw materials totaling almost $45.3 million, Trend reports.

According to the exchange, this is more than twice as much as in the previous reporting period, during which the cost of raw materials sold amounted to $20.6 million.

For foreign currency, businessmen from the UAE, Afghanistan, Malta, Scotland, and Uzbekistan purchased liquefied gas, aviation kerosene, base oil, and packaging film produced at the enterprises of the Turkmennebit State Concern.

At the same time, representatives of the business circles of Türkiye, Afghanistan, and Ukraine also purchased carbamide produced by the Turkmenhimiya State Concern.

Cotton yarn, as well as tea concentrate with licorice root, which were purchased by entrepreneurs from Germany and the UAE, were sold for foreign currency.

Furthermore, Turkmen businessmen bought flat glass for the domestic market for a total of almost 3.6 million Turkmen manat ($1.03 million).

Last week's auctions of Turkmenistan's State Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange yielded 31 transactions.

Meanwhile, the State Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange of Turkmenistan was established on July 29, 1994. It is the most important body of state regulation for export-import operations.
