Uzbekistan continues interaction with Universal Postal Union

Uzbekistan, Tashkent, Sept.8 / Trend, D. Azizov /

Uzbek President Islam Karimov signed a law "On ratification of the Eighth Additional Protocol to the Constitution of the Universal Postal Union (Geneva, Aug.12 2008)."

The law was adopted by the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis (lower chamber of Uzbek parliament) in May 2011 and approved by the upper chamber of the parliament - the Senate - in August.

Uzbekistan joined the Universal Postal Union in 1994 and joined its Constitution and the Final Protocol (Vienna, July 10, 1964), and then all previously adopted seven additional protocols to the Constitution of the UPU. All protocols have been ratified by Uzbekistan.

Ratification of the eighth protocol will allow Uzbekistan to continue the sustainable development of qualitative and efficient postal services, use the single technology for receiving, processing and delivery of international mail in all UPU member countries, and develop cooperation and interaction with them, as well as protect and defend their interests in international organizations.
