Uzbekistan studies experience of European penitentiary system

An Uzbek delegation consisting of experts of the Uzbek National Center for Human Rights, Interior Ministry and Presidential Office visited the Czech Republic and Slovakia within a project to bring the country’s penitentiary system in line with international standards, the Czech Embassy in Tashkent said on Wednesday.

An Uzbek delegation consisting of experts of the Uzbek National Center for Human Rights, Interior Ministry and Presidential Office visited the Czech Republic and Slovakia within a project to bring the country's penitentiary system in line with international standards, the Czech Embassy in Tashkent said on Wednesday.

The project is implemented with the assistance of the OSCE Project Coordinator in Uzbekistan

According to the report, Uzbek experts during the visit, which took place in late November - early December, were able to get acquainted with the Czech penitentiary system and share experiences with the European colleagues.

The delegation members got familiarized with the system of maintaining and advanced training of Czech prisons' employees at the Advanced Training Institute of Czech Prison Service. Within the visit the delegation also visited one of the Czech penitentiaries.
