State Tax Committee of Uzbekistan revealed more than 7.8 thousand violations of the law in the result of inspections to detect cases of passenger transportation, the Committee said on Tuesday.

According to STC, 4.8 thousand inspections were carried out and 19.96 thousand motor vehicles are tested since the beginning of the year. Cases against 6.8 thousand offenders are directed to judicial authorities, 117 cases to the bodies of Legal Aid.

Transportation of passengers without a license is punishable by a fine on citizens from twenty to one hundred, and the officials - from fifty to one hundred and fifty times of the minimum wage.

In accordance with the Resolution of President On additional measures to ensure the safety of passengers in Tashkent city and Tashkent region, committing the same offense within one year after the application of administrative penalties shall be followed by confiscation of the vehicle as a matter of an offense involving the offender to statutory liability.

Supervision of execution of orders will be provided jointly by the Main Directorate of Road Safety at the Interior Ministry, the Agency for Automobile and River Transport and the State Tax Committee, which is carried out monitoring activities on an ongoing basis to identify persons involved in the transport of passengers without a license, and prevention of these offenses.

According to traffic police, more than 25,000 cars are involved in illegal transportation of passengers in Tashkent today.

According to STC, the state budget loses over two billion soum annually due to non-payment of fees for licenses and 12 billion soum of taxes, and the shortfall in cash revenue amounted to nine billion soum.

Today, the country registered 1.5 thousand enterprises and organizations, including the 254 - in Tashkent, with a license to provide services for the transportation of passengers.

In Tashkent, passenger traffic transported about 1.520 million passengers daily, including 1.077 million - buses, 176,000 - by taxi, 84,000 - tram and 183.3 thousand - metro.
