Kamil Rashidov, who was appointed as Uzbek Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan in December last year, presented copies of his credentials to Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Yerlan Abdyldayev on Monday, the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry said.
According to the report, the Kyrgyz Foreign Minister congratulated Kamil Rashidov on his appointment as ambassador, stressing his vast experience as a diplomat. He made a point of saying that the Kyrgyz side highly appreciates Uzbekistan's decision to appoint him to this position.
Wishing Rashidov success in his post, Abdyldayev noted that the two countries' common goal is the development of cooperation in the interests of the Kyrgyz and Uzbek people.
The Uzbek Ambassador assured the foreign minister that he will make every effort to strengthen Uzbek-Kyrgyz mutually beneficial cooperation, raising it to a higher level.
The Senate (upper house of the Uzbek parliament) approved Kamil Rashidov to the post of ambassador to Kyrgyzstan on the proposal of President Islam Karimov in December last year.
Prior to his appointment Kamil Rashidov was Deputy Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan.
