U.S. Assistant Secretary of State holds scheduled meetings in Tashkent

Uzbek Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov met with U.S. Assistant Secretary of State Robert Blake on Wednesday, who arrived in Tashkent on a working visit, Uzbek Foreign Ministry said.

Uzbek Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov met with U.S. Assistant Secretary of State Robert Blake on Wednesday, who arrived in Tashkent on a working visit, Uzbek Foreign Ministry said.

During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on important aspects of the Uzbek-American relations, as well as international and regional issues.

Kamilov and Blake also discussed the upcoming schedule of regular consultations between the foreign ministries, meetings of representatives of business circles of the two countries and other bilateral contacts at various levels.

The conversation was also attended by Ambassador George Krol.

As it was reported earlier, Robert Blake's visit program envisages meetings with senior officials of Uzbekistan, during which the sides will discuss political, economic and humanitarian aspects of bilateral relations.

It is expected that Robert Blake will give a lecture about the U.S. policy in Central Asia at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy in Tashkent. He will also meet with civilian leaders and representatives of the business community.

The U.S State Department representative's previous visit to Uzbekistan was made in August last year. It was reported that the third round of the Uzbek-U.S political consultations, as well as a business forum with participation of business circles of the two countries was held during the visit of the U.S. delegation headed by Blake.
