Uzbek Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov and EU Special Envoy for Central Asia Janos Herman discussed relevant issues of relations in Tashkent on June 4, the Uzbek foreign ministry said on June 4.

During the conversation Kamilov and Herman also discussed the process of implementing the joint programs with the EU and international problems.

"The sides stressed the mutual interest in the gradual development of cooperation in various areas," the report said.

Special attention was paid to the state and prospects of expanding cooperation in trade-economic and investment fields, including the establishment of joint high-tech industries based on European best practice.

The two sides also exchanged views on prospects for strengthening bilateral relations in the cultural-humanitarian field.

EU Special Envoy Janos Herman will take part in the international conference on "the most important reserves of of implementing the food program in Uzbekistan". to be held in Tashkent on June 5-6.

Uzbekistan's relations with the EU are being developed within the Partnership and Cooperation Agreement, signed in June 1996.

Hungarian diplomat Janos Herman in the post of EU Special Representative for Central Asia replaced Patricia Flor in April 2013. Earlier, he worked as one of the heads of the European External Action Service, the head of the EU delegation in Norway, the Hungarian Foreign Ministry Secretary of State and ambassador to NATO.
