Dmitry Nagorny was appointed the director general of the Universal Mobile Systems, a joint venture of the Mobile TeleSystems (MTS) OJSC and Uzbekistan, the Uzbek State Committee for Communication, Informatization and Telecommunication Technologies (SCCITT) told Trend Oct. 14.
Prior to this appointment, Nagorny was the head of MTS in Russia's Altai region.
Earlier, it was reported that the Universal Mobile Systems (UMS) was created in late September by the MTS OJSC and the Center of Radio Contact, Broadcasting and Television of the SCCITT.
The founders' shares in the UMS stand at 50.01 percent and 49.9 percent respectively.
The launch of the UMS network into commercial use in Uzbekistan is scheduled for Dec. 1, 2014. The joint venture will use the infrastructure and equipment of Uzdunrobita, the MTS' former subsidiary in Uzbekistan.
