Uzbekistan will allocate $100,000 for the Fund of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights in 2018, the Uzbek president’s press service said in a message.

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev approved the appeal of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Zeid Ra’ad al-Hussein on consideration of possibility of a voluntary contribution to the management budget.

The visit of the delegation of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, led by High Commissioner Zeid Ra’ad al-Hussein to Uzbekistan on May 10-12, 2017, raised cooperation between Uzbekistan and the UN to a new level, according to the message.

During his visit to Uzbekistan, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights praised the ongoing reforms in the country and expressed readiness to support the large-scale reforms being implemented in the country.

The adoption of an action plan of almost 100 events by the Uzbek parliament in June 2017 gave a new momentum to the expansion of constructive and open dialogue between Uzbekistan and the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights.
