Monthly electricity consumption in Uzbekistan growing

The monthly electricity consumption in Uzbekistan has increased by 25.9 percent since 2000, the Uzbekenergo JSC company said in a statement.

While the monthly consumption of one family was 114 kW∙hour in 2000, it increased by 25.9 percent and reached 160 kW∙h by 2018, the energy company stated.

The volume of electricity produced in the country amounted to more than 61.3 billion kWh in 2017, of which 52.1 billion kWh (90 percent) were produced by thermal power plants of "Uzbekenergo" JSC company, and 8.5 billion kWh (10 percent) – by hydroelectric power stations of "Uzbekgidroenergo" JSC company, according to the data of the company.

Despite the active introduction of energy-saving technologies, the demand for electric energy is constantly growing. Currently, "Uzbekenergo" JSC company pays special attention to the development of the energy industry, modernization of existing production facilities, introduction of up-to-date energy equipment and development of renewable energy sources. A number of investment projects are being implemented in this direction.
