BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 30

By Ilkin Seyfaddini - Trend:

China received over 19 billion cubic meters of gas from Central Asia via the pipeline in the first half of 2020, Trend reports citing Xinhua News.

“Since December 2009, when the Central Asia-China gas pipeline was commissioned, 316 billion cubic meters of natural gas have been delivered to China,” the message said.

The gas pipeline originates on the border between Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan and crosses the Chinese-Kazakhstan border at the Khorgos checkpoint.

“Its total length is 1,833 kilometres. Its design capacity is 60 billion cubic meters per year. Through this pipeline, China receives more than 15 percent of all gas consumed in the country for the year, which benefits more than 500 million people in the country,” the report says.

The main importer of Uzbek gas in the period from January through July 2020, was China.

Supplies to China decreased in physical volume by 43.4 percent to 1.2 billion cubic meters and in value terms decreased by almost 52 percent to $198.3 million.

At the same time, the weighted average price of Uzbek natural gas supplied to China decreased from $186 per 1,000 cubic meters to $158 per 1,000 cubic meters (a 15 percent decrease) in the first half of 2020, compared to the first half of 2019.
