Most popular goods imported to Uzbekistan revealed

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Sept. 24

By Klavdiya Romakayeva - Trend:

The main position in Uzbekistan's import from January through August 2020 was machinery and transport equipment, Trend reports with reference to the State Statistics Committee in Uzbekistan.

According to the official statistics, from January through August 2020, machinery and transport equipment for more than $4.8 billion (37.8 percent) of total imports were imported into the country.

A significant share of supplies that amounted to almost $1.3 billion relates to machines intended for certain industries.

Non-specialized machinery and equipment for eight months were imported for $1 billion, and parts and accessories for cars for $608 million were imported for the reported period.

And although compared to the same period in 2019, the share of imports of machinery and transport equipment decreased by two percent, this commodity position continues to dominate in imports to the republic.

Analysts of the State Statistics Committee explain this by the improvement of the investment climate in Uzbekistan. Taking into account the large investments from China, Korea, Russia, Germany, and Turkey, a high share of these countries in the volume of imports of machinery and transport equipment still remains.

In recent months, the dynamics of the stabilization of the share of imports from the CIS countries and other foreign countries have been noted.

In general, from January through August 2020, goods and services from 137 countries were imported to Uzbekistan. One-third of imports ($9,486 million dollars) is accounted for by such large partner countries as China (the share in total imports is 22 percent), Russia (20.5 percent), South Korea (11 percent), Kazakhstan (9.4 percent), Turkey (5.2 percent), Germany (3.4 percent) and Lithuania (1.9 percent).
