By Klavdiya Romakayeva - Trend:

The supply of electricity to all consumers will be carried out only on a prepayment basis starting from February 1, 2021, Trend reports citing portal for discussion of draft legal acts.

The system for assessing the impact of legislative acts has published a draft resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers "On amendments and additions, as well as invalidating some decisions of the government of the Republic of Uzbekistan".

The document was developed based on the tasks set by the head of state at a meeting dedicated to the priority tasks of transforming electric power enterprises.

The document is aimed to make appropriate changes in the government decree "On measures to radically improve the mechanism of payments for the use of electrical energy".

In addition, the Ministry of Energy, being the developer of the document, proposes to amend the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers "On additional measures to improve the procedure for the use of electrical energy and natural gas".

Thus, household consumers are obliged to make a full payment for the electricity consumed in the previous month by the 10th day of each month and the supply of electricity to consumers, except household consumers, is carried out on the basis of a 100 percent prepayment.

In addition, the supply of electricity to all consumers (including household consumers), regardless of the form of ownership and departmental affiliation, will be carried out only on a prepayment basis starting from February 1, 2021

Consumers who have not made the payment in advance are subject to mandatory disconnection from electrical networks in accordance with the established procedure.

The draft document is currently at the stage of public comment. It can be changed, supplemented, or rejected.
