Uzbekistan notes increase in bell pepper export

More than 13,900 tons of bell pepper worth $8.9 million were registered in the customs regime of export from Uzbekistan in 2020, Trend reports with reference to the press service of the State Customs Committee of Uzbekistan.

According to the committee, the export of bell peppers from Uzbekistan in 2020 increased by 696,000 tons compared to the previous year.

In addition, the country's foreign exchange earnings from the export of bell peppers increased by 68 percent compared to 2019.

It is reported that 59 percent of the total volume was exported to Russia and 25 percent to Kazakhstan.

At the same time, the export of these products to Poland in 2020 increased six times, Tajikistan - 2.5 and the United Arab Emirates - 1.1 times.

The committee reports that bell peppers have been exported to Belarus, Azerbaijan and Afghanistan in 2020 for the first time.

Earlier State Statistics Committee reported that in January 2021, 63,800 tons of fruits and vegetables were exported from Uzbekistan worth $40.8 million, which is $2.4 million more than in the same period last year.

The largest volume of agricultural products exported from Uzbekistan in January 2021 in volume fell on Tashkent, amounting to 10,300 tons

The three leading exporters of fruit and vegetables in Uzbekistan also include Samarkand and Jizzakh regions, exporting products 8,000 and 7,100 tons, respectively.

According to the Committee, the main export markets for Uzbek fruits and vegetables in 2020 were Russia ($255.4 million), Kazakhstan ($251.4 million) and Kyrgyzstan ($181.1 million).
