IDB eyes attracting new partners to join Economic Support Fund in Uzbekistan

Uzbekistan, Islamic Development Bank (IDB) discussed the prospects for interaction to mobilize additional resources and attract new partners to join an Economic Support Fund in Uzbekistan, Trend reports referring to the press service of the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan.

On May 4, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov held a meeting with the President of the IDB, Bandar Hajjar, during which issues related to the preparation and holding of the 46th Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of the IDB Group in Tashkent were discussed.

According to the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade, the progress of preparation for the event and the implementation of measures to address related organizational issues were reviewed.

The president of the IDB informed the Uzbek side of his intention to visit Uzbekistan in the near future to hold a road show dedicated to broad coverage of the Annual Meeting in domestic and foreign media.

Also, the parties discussed the progress of the implementation of projects and initiatives in Uzbekistan, implemented with the support of the IDB.

The head of the bank highly appreciated the implementation of the initiative to create an Economic Support Fund in Uzbekistan and expressed hope that this financial institution will become a powerful tool to stimulate economic development, reduce poverty and improve the welfare of the country's population.

In this context, the sides considered the prospects for interaction to mobilize additional resources and attract new partners to join the Fund, such as the Saudi Development Fund, the Public Investment Fund, financial institutions of the Arab Coordination Group and private investors.
