Uzbekistan’s Khorezm region accounts for largest share of fish caught

The largest share of fish caught in Uzbekistan for the first half of 2021 fell on the Khorezm region, amounting to 16.7 percent, Trend reports referring to the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan.

According to the Committee, over 47,100 tons of fish were caught in Uzbekistan in the first half of the year.

It was revealed that the main part of the fish caught was recorded in organizations engaged in agricultural activities – 17,954 tons, or 48.3 percent of the total catch, followed by farms – 16,475 tons (44.3 percent of the total catch).

It is noted that the smallest volume of fish caught during the reporting period was observed in dekhkan (personal subsidiary) farms - 2,762 tons, or 7.4 percent of the total catch, while the growth was observed in farms - by 15.5 percent, dehkan (personal subsidiary) farms - by 0.5 percent and organizations engaged in agricultural activities - by 6.7 percent.

The Committee reports that the Khorezm region accounted for 16.7 percent of the total catch. It was also recorded that the share of Navoi fish breeders amounted to 11.2 percent, Tashkent region and Karakalpakstan - 9.8 percent each.

In addition, the total volume of products (services) of the fishery from January through June 2021 amounted to 582.4 billion soums ($54.7 million), increasing by 10.8 percent compared to the same period last year.
