Uzbekistan has completed work on pumping natural gas into underground storage facilities (UGS), Trend reports referring to the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan.
According to the ministry more than 2 billion cubic meters of gas have been pumped into the Gazli UGS facility, and more than 930 million cubic meters of gas into the Khojobod UGS facility.
The Ministry of Energy noted that it is planned to supply domestic consumers with 32.6 billion cubic meters of gas during the autumn-winter period.
Underground storage facilities operate on almost the same principle as gas production companies.
They pump out and pump gas into natural reservoirs underground using compressor stations. Gas is stored depending on the UGS facility type at a depth of 400 to 2,000 meters.
