BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 12. Uzbekistan plans to increase rice growing in 2022, Trend reports via the Uzbek Ministry of Agriculture.

In the current year, in order to meet the needs of the population of the country in rice, a total of 111,200 hectares of land have been sown with this crop. Of these, 40,300 hectares are the main areas and 70,900 hectares are secondary.

At the same time, the country pays attention to the introduction of resource- and water-saving technologies in the fields.

To increase the yield of rice and create new resource-efficient, high-yielding varieties, 2 specialists from the Academy of Agricultural Sciences of Vietnam were invited and 6 early varieties of rice have been brought to the country.

As a result of the implemented measures, it is expected to receive 485,000 tons of brown rice in 2022, which is 55,000 tons more than last year, and produce347,000 tons of rice from it.
