BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 23. Uzbekistan and Tajikistan recorded a trade turnover of $86 million from January through February 2023, which is 6.8 percent more than during the same period in 2022 – $80.5 million, Trend reports via the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan.
The volume of goods and services imported by Tajikistan from Uzbekistan in the reporting period amounted to $70.5 million – an increase of 8.4 percent, compared to the figure for the first two months in 2022 ($65 million).
At the same time, Uzbekistan’s imports from Tajikistan slightly increased and amounted to $15.5 million over $15.4 million from January through February 2022.
During the reporting period, Tajikistan imported from Uzbekistan some 2,200 tons of fruits and vegetables worth $1 million, textile products worth $4.9 million, etc.
From January through February 2023, the trade turnover of Uzbekistan amounted to $8.9 billion, increasing by 2 percent or $176.4 million, compared to the same period last year ($8.7 billion). Export from Uzbekistan amounted to about $3.1 billion, while imports - were $5.7 billion.
Meanwhile, Tajikistan's trade turnover with Uzbekistan reached $674.4 million in 2022, which is an increase of 11.3 percent, compared to the figure for 2021 ($605.6 million).
In 2022, Tajikistan exported to Uzbekistan some 965,280 tons of cement for $29.7 million, as well as electricity ($33.4 million), aluminum ($31.4 million), cotton fiber ($17.4 million), as well as 29,602 tons of zinc ores and concentrates worth $30.8 million, etc.
