BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 31. A new solar photovoltaic station with a capacity of 150 kW has been built in the working town on the premises of the Gazli gas processing plant in the Bukhara region of Uzbekistan, Trend reports.

This newly established solar photovoltaic station, designed as a parking lot, has an average annual production capacity of 284,000 kWh.

Once operational, the solar photovoltaic station is expected to supply between 30 and 40 percent of the electricity required by the structures managed by the Gazli oil and gas production administration.

The Gazli gas processing plant belongs to Uzbekneftegaz, the state-owned holding company of Uzbekistan's oil and gas industry. The state company systematically carries out the work for the implementation of renewable energy projects, including the installation of small-scale solar photovoltaic stations, solar water heating systems, and solar panel streetlights at the company's owned properties.

Earlier on May 27, Uzbek Energy Minister, Jurabek Mirzamakhmudov, said that Uzbekistan plans to attain a 25 percent share portion of renewable energy in the country's energy balance by 2026.
