BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 30. Uzbekistan is likely to harvest a record apricot crop in 2023, which will contribute to the growth of its exports and restore the country's position among the global leaders in this regard, Trend reports.
According to the analysts, currently, apricot prices in the country are at historically low levels, lower than they were only in 2020 when exports were temporarily blocked due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Interestingly, on Saturday, June 24, apricot prices in Uzbekistan further decreased against the backdrop of the ongoing civil war in Russia. Nevertheless, it is expected that prices will recover somewhat in the coming days, but they will definitely remain relatively low compared to recent years.
As the experts have already reported, during the first two months of the season, Uzbekistan managed to repeat the record apricot export, selling about 40,000 tons of the product on the foreign markets - 5.4 times more than in the same period of 2022.
Thus, it is expected that Uzbekistan will be able to sell at least 65-70,000 tons of apricots on the foreign markets during the season, and under certain conditions, exports may even exceed 75,000 tons.
