TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, July 13. Uzbekistan's Minister of Energy, Jurabek Mirzamakhmudov, said that the cost of gas that Uzbekistan will be purchasing from Russia is based on national interests, Trend reports.

"The price has been agreed upon based on national interests and market conditions. We cannot disclose the price because it is a bilateral contract. We have explained this. Overall, if we look at contracts in this sector, the price is not disclosed in any contract. However, I can say that a competitive price has been agreed upon, taking into account national interests," said Mirzamakhmudov.

At the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum on June 16 of this year, the Uzbekistan government and Russian Gazprom signed an agreement for the supply of Russian gas to the country.

They also outlined a roadmap for the preparation of the gas transportation system for the reception and transportation of fuel.

Gas deliveries through Kazakhstan are planned to begin on October 1 of this year. The agreement is valid for two years, with a daily supply volume of 9 million cubic meters and an annual volume of nearly 2.8 billion cubic meters.

Meanwhile, Uzbekneftegaz, the state-owned holding company of Uzbekistan's oil and gas industry, reported positive production figures for the first half of 2023.

The production target for liquefied gas during this period was set at 321,600 tons, but the actual production reached 341,337 tons, exceeding the initial plan by 6.1 percent. Furthermore, the goal of supplying 320,788 tons of liquefied gas to Uzbekistan's consumers was achieved, with the actual figure reaching 340,207 tons.
