TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, March 12. The Turkish Layki company has shown interest in the implementation of a project in a small industrial zone specializing in the manufacture of leather, footwear, and fur products in Akhangaran district of Uzbekistan's Tashkent region, Trend reports.

This was announced at a meeting between the chairman of the Uzcharmsanoat Association, Fakhriddin Boboev, and the head of the Turkish Layki Company. The meeting was also attended by representatives of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the People's Bank of Uzbekistan, and agencies of the Uzbek-Turkish Intergovernmental Commission.

The parties discussed organizational and practical matters of implementation of the project on the creation and production of footwear products, soles, and glue with Uzbek enterprises.

The preliminary cost of the project is estimated at $1 million.

They discussed organizational aspects, including the participation of the companies in electronic bidding for land acquisition and the schedule and format of subsequent working meetings to discuss work on the project.

The Uzbek side expressed readiness to provide support at all stages for the successful implementation of the project.

Meanwhile, another Turkish company, El Taban, launches an investment project in the leather and footwear industries, providing for the production of a new generation of shoe soles in Uzbekistan.

According to preliminary calculations, the cost of the project is estimated at $2.1 million.
