TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, March 30. Uzbekistan expects exports to reach $3.5 billion due to the measures taken to actively support entrepreneurship and a stable supply of energy resources in the winter season, Trend reports.
This was discussed at a meeting held by President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev on issues of stable development and increasing competitiveness in economic sectors.
The participants of the meeting reviewed the effectiveness of measures taken to optimize the expenditures of large state-owned enterprises and save energy resources.
At the same time, the head of state sets specific tasks to increase export revenues, strengthen the solvency of enterprises, reduce accounts receivable, and prevent unreasonable growth in costs.
He paid special attention to the full-scale realization of the export potential of industries and regions. The country intends to create favorable production and logistics chains for entrepreneurs to enter foreign markets and to improve the competitiveness of products.
Meanwhile, Uzbekistan's volume of exports amounted to $3.63 billion (an increase of 13.6 percent year-on-year) from January through February 2024, while imports amounted to $6.28 billion (an increase of 8.7 percent).
