TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, April 23. Uzbekistan sold gold worth $2.6 billion in Q1 2024, Trend reports.
According to data from Uzbekistan's Statistics Agency, this sum
has climbed by 8.3 percent year on year ($2.4 billion in
January–March 2023).
At the same time, the country's gold exports rose by $1.3 billion
over the previous two months ($1.3 billion in January–February
2024).
Meanwhile, Uzbekistan's gold reserves amounted to 368 tons as of
February 2024.
The data from the World Gold Council shows that this indicator was three tons less in December 2023. Uzbekistan’s share of gold reserves totaled 75 percent of total foreign reserves. The country ranked sixteenth in terms of growth in gold reserves in the world.
The Central Bank of Uzbekistan reduced its gold reserves by 12 tons in February 2024, and hence the overall amount of gold reserves reached 35,976 tons worldwide as of January 2024.
