TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, May 22. Uzbekistan exported gold worth $3.4 billion from January through April 2024, Trend reports.
According to the data from Uzbekistan’s Statistics Agency, this figure has increased by 13.3 percent compared to the same period last year ($3 billion in January–April 2023).
At the same time, the volume of exported gold from Uzbekistan reached $800 million in April 2024, which is less than 38.4 percent compared to $1.3 billion in March 2024.
Meanwhile, Uzbekistan's gold reserves amounted to $26.5 billion in April 2024. This indicator has increased by 4.7 percent over the month ($25.3 billion in March 2024).
In total, Uzbekistan's gold and foreign exchange reserves totaled $35.1 billion in April 2024. This figure shows 2.9 percent growth over the month ($34.1 billion in March 2024).
Earlier, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) predicted that Uzbekistan's gold reserves would continue to rise, boosting the country's total foreign reserves to $36 billion in both 2024 and 2025.
According to the outlook, these reserves are expected to be enough to cover 11 months of imports in 2024 and 10 months in 2025.
