TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, May 25. Uzbekistan's volume of imports amounted to $12.3 billion from January through April 2024, Trend reports.
As per data from Uzbekistan’s Statistics Agency, this figure has increased by 3.3 percent compared to the same period in 2023 ($11.9 billion in January–April 2023).
In the structure of imports, machinery and transportation equipment account for 36.8 percent, industrial goods for 15.9 percent, and chemicals and similar products for 12.4 percent.
The main import partners in the foreign trade turnover were China ($3.3 billion), Russia ($2.8 billion), Kazakhstan ($841.1 million), and Korea ($681.5 million) from January through April 2024.
In the import structure of the country, a significant share was noted in the city of Tashkent, which is 53.2 percent, or $6.5 billion, and the smallest share was recorded at the level of 0.5 percent, or $62.5 million, in Karakalpakstan.
Meanwhile, Uzbekistan's foreign trade turnover volume amounted to $20.9 billion from January through April 2024. This is 6 percent more year-on-year ($19.7 billion in January–April 2023).
The largest trade turnover volume was recorded with China ($3.9 billion) during this period. Russia ranks second with a total trade turnover volume of $3.8 billion, followed by Kazakhstan ($1.2 billion).
