TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, May 29. Uzbekhydroenergo (Uzbekistan's energy company) adopted the hydropower development program until 2030, Trend reports.
According to Uzbekhydroenergo, the program was adopted in order to increase the level of utilization of hydropower potential in Uzbekistan and launch new generating capacities.
Within the framework of the program, more than 50 major investment projects have been implemented, and it is planned to increase the capacity of hydropower plants (HPP) up to 6 GW by 2030 through the construction of new HPPs and the modernization of all existing ones.
The company also envisages creating 3.3 million MW of additional capacity, including the construction of hydropower plants with a total capacity of 1,600 MW in 2024 in order to create corrective capacity, as well as the construction of 130 MW of capacity with the participation of private investors.
Meanwhile, Uzbekhydroenergo and China Southern Power Grid signed an agreement on joint development of the hydroelectric power plant.
The hydroelectric power plant will be built in the Bostanlyk district of Uzbekistan’s Tashkent region. The cost of the project is estimated at $1 billion.
