TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, June 13. Uzbekistan plans to harvest 4.1 million tons of potatoes in 2024, Trend reports.
According to the estimates of the Inspection on the Control of Agro-industrial Complexes under Uzbekistan's Ministry of Agriculture, the country has planted 202,798 hectares of potato crops in the main areas of all categories of farms and vegetable gardens.
According to calculations, the average yield from 1 hectare of planted potatoes in the country is expected to be 203 centners.
Around 150,000 tons of seed will be required in 2024 to plant between 45,000 and 50,000 hectares of land in the regions.
Meanwhile, all types of farms in Uzbekistan produced 75,300 tons of vegetables from January through March 2024. This figure represents a 4.7 percent growth compared to the same period last year (71,900 tons in January–March 2023).
From January through March 2024, the country's farms produced 7,000 tons of vegetables, dehkan (large private farms that belong to legal entities), subsidiary farms (47,100 tons), and agricultural organizations (21,200 tons).
