Uzbekistan reveals electric current trade turnover volume

TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, June 22. Uzbekistan's electric current trade turnover totaled $127.6 million from January to May 2024, Trend reports.

The data from Uzbekistan’s Statistics Agency shows that this figure has increased by 22.3 percent compared to the same period last year ($104.3 million in January–April 2023).

Uzbekistan’s exports of electric current amounted to $55.4 million from January through May 2024, which is 23.3 percent more year-on-year ($44.9 million in January–May 2023).

The electric current imports reached $72.2 million from January through May 2024, which indicates a 21.5 percent growth compared to the same period last year ($59.4 million in January–May 2023).

Meanwhile, Uzbekistan produced 31.1 billion kWh of electricity from January through May 2024. The production volume has decreased by 1.2 percent compared to the same period last year (31.5 billion kWh in January–May 2023).

At the same time, in May 2024, the country’s electricity production declined to 3.2 billion kWh, compared to 7.9 billion kWh in April 2024).
