Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad says the regional countries have the potential to settle problems through unity and cooperation, reported PressTv.

"The United States and the Zionist regime are unable to prevent positive developments of the regional countries," Ahmadinejad said in a meeting with the Qatari Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hamad bin Jasim al-Thani.

He stressed that the recently-reached Doha deal among the Lebanese political factions on settling the country's long-running crisis heralded the emergence of a new situation in the region and provided the regional nations with good opportunities to thwart the plots hatched by the enemies.

The Iranian president urged all Islamic countries to help the Palestinian people, who are under unspeakable pressure by the Zionist regime.

Washington is not a friend to nations, the Qatari Prime Minister said, adding that the countries of the region should resolve their problems through mutual understanding and cooperation.

He called for further strengthening of ties between Tehran and Doha in all areas.
