Police detained 109 people during meetings in Iran on the National Day of Combating International Imperialism on Nov. 4, Mehr reported.
Tehran Police Commander Azizullah Rajabzadeh said that the police arrested about 109 people during the meetings. Some 47 of them have been released and the police department has filed a criminal case on the rest 62, including 43 men and 19 women, and sent to the court.
Every year on Nov. 4, official Iran celebrates the 30th anniversary of the seizure of U.S. Embassy in Tehran. On Nov. 4, 1979, Iranian revolutionary-minded students seized the embassy and held 53 Americans hostage for 444 days. Iranian Supreme Leader Khomeini declared Nov. 4 the National Day of Combating International Imperialism.
