The Iranian police arrested over 40 people accused of taking part in clashes on Ashura Day with the help of outside sources, Ilna reported.
The agency reported that the police arrested demonstrators after issuing the photographs of 65 people accused of involvement in the clashes.
An investigation is underway.
The Iranian police have accused these individuals of violating the rule of law and insulting Islamic slogans and religious values.

According to international news agencies, the riots resulted in the deaths of 15 people. Police arrested 550 people. According to the official information, the clashes killed eight people, including one woman, and 300 people were arrested.
