Alpine skier Marjan Kalhor is the first woman to represent Iran at the Winter Olympics, next month in Vancouver, the Mehr news agency reported Wednesday.

Kalhor will compete at the February 12-28 Games after meeting the Olympic norm in the slalom and giant slalom, DPA repoted.

Two other Iranian skiers, the brothers Pourya and Hossein Saveh-Shemshaki, will also attend the Vancouver Games, the reports said.

In line with Islamic regulations in Iran, Kalhor will compete in line with the Islamic dress code.

Women in Iran are obliged to wear scarves and long gowns to hide their hair and body contours. Female athletes must also follow this rule and participate in sports wearing scarves and gowns.
