Iranian researchers manufactured solar reactor for the first time in the country, taking the first major step in production of radioisotopes, ISNA reported.
The device is able to produce short radioisotopes such as carbon 11, Nitrogen 13, Oxygen 15 and Fluorine-18 through nuclear fusion reactions.
Radioisotopes can be used in nuclear medical scans. The device built in small-scale also costs less and spreads lower radiations comparing to cyclotron which now produces radioisotopes.
