Iran 's Customs and Excise Department has reported that the amount of goods smuggled into and out of the country during the last Iranian calendar year (which ended on March 20) valued $14.43 billion-MNA reports.
According to the report, $13.25 billion of the total amount accounts for smuggled goods imported into the country and $0.1913 billion accounts for the goods out of the country.
Each billion dollars of goods smuggled into the country leads to the loss of 50 to 60.000 jobs.
Every year, some 5 billion dollars worth of goods are smuggled into the country leading to 350.000 job losses.
