Three million barrels per day (bpd) of oil are produced or 80 percent of the country's total oil output capacity, Shana news reported.

Since the beginning of the year (Iran's solar year ends in March), about 99.8 percent of the National Iranian South Oil Company's (NISOC) program has been met, said managing director Hormoz Qalavand.

Today, 16 percent of Iran's gas comes from its southern region.

Meanwhile, the Asmari and Bangestan reservoirs in the Ahwaz field produce about 800,000 bpd of oil. About $48 million will be needed for three dimensional seismic operations at the Ahwaz oil field to have a better understanding of the field's reserves and increase production, the NISOC head said.
