Iranian Oil Minister Rostam Qasemi said that the Swiss EGL Company is still in talks with Iran over gas import from the Islamic Republic.

Addressing a press conference in Tehran on Saturday, Qasemi added that the two sides have not yet come to terms on the volume and price of gas imports, Mehr news agency reported.

The minister also said Iran may sign gas export deals with Greece, but gave no further details in this regard.

On Oct.31, 2011, the National Iranian Gas Export Company's Managing Director Hossein Bidarmaghz said technical issues are the main reason behind the delayed sales of [Iran's] natural gas to this European company.

He added that Iran and the Swiss company face no contractual or legal problems to start gas exports.

The Swiss gas contract, one of Iran's biggest gas deals ever, was signed by EGL and NIGEC in March 2008.

Based on a 25-year contract, Iran was supposed to start supplying gas to Switzerland in 2009, exporting a total of 500 million cubic meters of gas annually to the European country in the first phase. The figure was to rise to 5 billion cu. m. by 2012.
