Iran achieved flawless victory yesterday, after defeating the U.S. at the pre-Olympic Football 7-a-side tournament in Ukraine, Iran Sports Federation for the Disabled reported.
Today, Iranian team is scheduled to play Russia.
According to the report, Iran defeated the U.S. at the first round of Group A games with a score of 9-0. In group B, Brazil played Ukraine, and defeated the home team with a 2-1 score.
Group A includes Iran, Russia, Argentine, and United States. Group B includes Ukraine, Brazil, Australia, and Netherlands.
The pre-Olympic Football 7-a-side tournament is being held in Ukraine from May 3 to 8. Iran is said to be among the favorite teams in the tournament.
Iranian team coach Amin Allahmani said prior to the tournament that his team is "well-prepared to win the title for the first time in history".
