Tasked with sending 50,000 Iranians overseas for work, Iran's ministry of labour and social affairs only found jobs for 2800 of its citizens.

Iran's Fifth Five-Year Socio Economic Development Plan (2011-2015) calls for the placement of 100,000 Iranians in jobs abroad by the time the plan ends, the Iranian Students' News Agency (ISNA) reports.

A labour ministry official, Mohammad Hossein Forouzan Mehr, said the ministry believes more than 5000 people were employed abroad by the private sector last year (Iran's solar year ended on March 19). Mr. Forouzan Mehr added the labour ministry hopes its efforts will have good results this year.
