Iran’s Maroun Petrochemical Company sells 1.6 million tons of products

Iran's Maroun Petrochemical Company sold around 1.6 million tons of its products in the past calendar year which ended on March 19, said the company's managing director.

"Products of the company mainly include ethylene, propylene, polyethylene and glycol," Rahim Sharif Mousavi told the IRNA News Agency.

He also said that the company also produces some 80,000 tons of gasoline annually. Maroun Petrochemical Company recovers ethane from natural gas to be used to produce chemical and polymer products.

National Petrochemical Company managing director Abdolhossein Bayat said on April 18 that Iran exported some $14 billion worth of petrochemical products to 60 countries last year.

He added that $10.5 billion of oil income will be allocated to the development of the national petrochemical industry.

Iran has developed 69 projects to boost its petrochemical output from the past year's 54 million tons to 100 million tons in 2015.

Western Europe and China are the main recipients of Iran's petrochemical exports, followed by Southeast Asia, the Middle East, the Subcontinent, Africa and Latin America.
