Deputy heads of the negotiating teams from Iran and the six world powers, Ali Baqeri and Helga Schmid, attended a bilateral meeting after the end of the morning session of the multifaceted talks in Baghdad on Wednesday, FNA reported.
Baqeri and Schmid, the deputies of Iran's top negotiator Saeed Jalili and EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton who preside the talks in Baghdad, held a closed-door meeting after the morning session between the negotiating teams of Iran and the six world powers in the Iraqi capital.
After the meeting with Baqeri, Schmid met with the delegations of the Group 5+1 (the five permanent UN Security Council members plus Germany) to brief them about Iran's viewpoints.
After the last month meeting between Iran and the six world powers in Istanbul, Jalili and Ashton announced that their deputies, Baqeri and Schmid, were assigned to draft an agreement on cooperation between Tehran and the six world powers before the Baghdad meeting today.
"Mr. Baqeri and Mrs. Schmid were tasked with compiling a draft for the framework of cooperation for the May 23 meeting in Baghdad," Jalili said at a press conference after attending two rounds of talks with the representatives of the world powers in Istanbul on April 14.
"Mutual cooperation will start after preparing this draft and we hope to witness positive steps in this ground," he added.
Earlier today, it was announced that Iran has offered a comprehensive package of step-by-step proposals to the six world powers during the morning session.
FNA dispatches from Baghdad said the Iranian package includes five subjects in various fields of nuclear and non-nuclear cooperation.
The Iranian step-by-step proposals offer practical steps to the western sides.
Representatives of the G5+1 were due to express their view about the package in the evening session which was scheduled for 18:00 Baghdad time (1500 GMT) but was later postponed for a few hours.
Neither party has explained why the evening session has been postponed.
Iran has, thus far, presented several packages of proposals to the world powers, including a set of proposals in May 2009 offering collective cooperation in resolving major world issues.
